Day 8 - Wednesday
We started the morning by revisiting our crate and bed exercises, giving campers and their dogs another opportunity to practice staying calm and focused while working at each dog’s individual pace.
Campers also learned how to gradually increase distractions while helping their dogs remain successful and confident.

Next, we headed to Canine Companions, where campers got an inside look at the incredible work service dogs do every day.
They learned about the different types of service dogs, the extensive training each dog receives, and the many ways these highly skilled dogs help people live more independent lives.
Campers had the opportunity to ask questions, observe the training process, and gain a greater appreciation for the patience, consistency, and teamwork that go into raising a successful service dog.
After our visit, we enjoyed lunch on campus, where campers spent time talking about school, sharing stories, and getting to know one another even better.

For lunch, the campers enjoyed their meals on the way to our second field trip at VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group).
During the visit, they toured the hospital, learned how emergency veterinary medicine differs from a traditional veterinary clinic, and got an inside look at the fast-paced work veterinarians and technicians do to help animals in need.

In the afternoon, campers learned the art of latch hooking, a craft that challenged their creativity while reinforcing the importance of patience and attention to detail.
As they worked on their projects, campers practiced following patterns, solving problems, and encouraging one another through the process.
It was a relaxing activity that reminded everyone that great results often come from taking their time and enjoying the journey.
To wrap up the day, everyone worked together to clean the barn in preparation for tomorrow’s full-day outing.
Once the work was finished, campers celebrated with a fun game of Heads Up, ending the day with plenty of laughter and teamwork.
More adventures tomorrow!
