Day 5 - Friday

Today, we started with a little light exercise and dancing to get the day moving.

Not only was it a fun way to begin the morning, it also highlighted the importance of physical activity for both body and mind.

The campers got their energy flowing, shared some laughs, and started the day feeling engaged, connected, and ready for the adventures ahead.

The campers then had the opportunity to put into practice many of the skills and concepts they learned throughout the week with their pups.

Through hands-on activities and interactions, they focused on building communication, trust, and connection with their canine partners.

We also had a meaningful discussion about the human-dog relationship and how trust is built through positive experiences.

Just like people, dogs learn who they can trust through consistent interactions that make them feel safe, understood, and supported.

The campers explored how patience, encouragement, and shared experiences help create stronger relationships with their dogs.

Everyone enjoyed a field trip to Avalon Marketplace, where they relaxed on the patio and enjoyed great food together while the dogs were treated to pup cups.

Outings like these provide valuable enrichment and socialization opportunities for the dogs, exposing them to new sights, sounds, smells, and experiences.

They also help the dogs practice feeling comfortable and confident in public settings.

As adoptable dogs, these community outings provide another important benefit that helps the dogs become more visible to potential adopters.

By spending time out in the community, people have the opportunity to meet them, learn about their personalities, and see them enjoying life alongside their young handlers.

It's a wonderful way to build confidence, create positive experiences, and help these deserving dogs find their forever homes.

We ended the week with a Pilates session for the campers.

Throughout the week, we spent a lot of time discussing the importance of enrichment, wellness, and meeting the needs of both animals and people.

Pilates provided an opportunity for the campers to slow down, focus on their bodies, and experience how movement can support physical and mental well-being.

It was a fitting way to wrap up a week filled with learning, growth, adventure, and enrichment for both the campers and the animals they worked with.

See you next week!
