Day 3 - Wednesday
After the morning huddle and practice, our campers enjoyed a special enrichment activity at Lufka, where they created their own candles using natural ingredients.
The experience offered much more than a fun craft project. As they measured, mixed, and assembled their candles, campers practiced creativity, patience, and fine motor skills.
They also explored different scents and learned how sensory experiences can influence relaxation and emotional well-being.

Campers also learned how to safely support a dog in the swimming pool. This activity helped them develop patience, empathy, confidence, and a better understanding of canine body language.
For many of the dogs, the pool was a new experience. With calm guidance and encouragement from the campers, the dogs were able to explore the water safely, helping build confidence and positive associations with something new.
A great example of enrichment benefiting both in the human-dog relationship.

Our campers and dogs also enjoyed a field trip to a local coffee shop patio!
Public outings like these provide valuable socialization and exposure opportunities for dogs, allowing them to observe new sights, sounds, smells, and people in a safe and positive way.
The campers learned how to keep their dogs safely secured in a public setting, practice good leash handling skills, and recognize when a dog is relaxed or may need more space.
These experiences help build confidence for both the dogs and the campers, while teaching responsibility, awareness, and teamwork.

The campers also enjoyed an outdoor adventure that included kayaking on the pond, sensory activities, tunnel exploration, nature walks, and team-building exercises.

One of our team-building challenges at the end of the day asked all campers to work together to climb onto a small tree with very limited space.

While it may have looked like simple fun, the activity required communication, cooperation, problem-solving, and awareness of others.

The campers learned that success was about working together to make space for everyone.
More adventures to come tomorrow!
